Advanced Cervical Inspection & Preventive Women's Health in Matunga East, Mumbai

Early Detection Prevents Cervical Cancer

Cervical cancer is one of the most preventable cancers in women when detected in its pre-cancerous stages. A colposcopy is a specialized, painless diagnostic procedure that allows a gynecologist to inspect the cervix under binocular magnification to identify abnormal cellular changes before they can turn into disease.

Dr. Ankita Rajesh Shah has completed a dedicated clinical Fellowship in Colposcopy & Women's Cancer Screening. Our clinic in Matunga East is equipped to provide precise cervical evaluations, Pap smear follow-ups, and HPV testing.

When is a Colposcopy Recommended?

  • Abnormal Pap Smear Result: Such as ASC-US, LSIL, or HSIL cell changes.
  • Positive High-Risk HPV Test: Persistent infection with Human Papillomavirus types 16, 18, or other high-risk strains.
  • Unexplained Cervical Symptoms: Post-coital bleeding, unusual cervical discharge, or suspicious cervical appearance on routine exam.
  • Post-Treatment Surveillance: Follow-up monitoring after cervical LEEP or ablation treatments.

What to Expect During the Colposcopy Procedure

Step 1

Visual Magnification

A colposcope is positioned outside the body to illuminate and magnify the cervix 10x to 40x.

Step 2

Acetic Acid Application

Dilute acetic acid solution highlights abnormal, dysplastic cells as distinct acetowhite areas.

Step 3

Targeted Biopsy (If Needed)

A pinpoint tissue sample is collected only if suspicious areas are visualized for lab confirmation.
